Open Water Diver

This is where it all begins!

You will learn how to assemble and operate scuba systems. Practice basic scuba skills like buoyancy management, mask and regulator clearing, emergency air management, dive planning, and dive computer usage. Successful completion of this course results in the PADI Open Water Diver certification, enabling the diver to participate in many supervised and unsupervised dive activities.

The PADI open water class is organized (Like most PADI courses) into 3 steps.

  1. Classroom (Knowledge development) or participate in e-Learning
  2. Pool (confined water) training
  3. Open water checkout dives

You will prepare for the classroom by doing some reading, answering small knowledge reviews, and some classes also require watching a DVD. These steps are completed in the comfort of your own home. You will then meet with your instructor, who will review what you have learned, and give you a short exam.

The pool sessions is where you will learn, practice, and master in water skills. The final step is repeating the in water skills for your instructor in open water.

Prerequisites:

10 years of age; swimming proficiency (200 yard swim, 10 minute tread)

Included Materials:

PADI Open Water Diver Manual, Rental usage of PADI Open Water Diver DVD, Rental usage of equipment (BCD, Regulator w/Computer, Tanks, & Weights), & 2 Open Water Boat dives.

Student Supplied Materials:

Mask, Snorkel, fins, & boots (standard personal gear). Personal gear can be rented for a minor fee.

PADI Scuba Diver

www.PADI.comAre you short on time before your next trip, but still want to dive? The PADI Scuba Diver certification is a subset of the full Open Water Diver certification.  Its like taking the first half of the Open Water course.  Successful completion of this course results in the PADI Scuba Diver certification.  This certification allows you to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor to a maximum depth of 12 meters / 40 feet. Of course, you can continue with your dive training and complete PADI Open Water Diver certification (certain limitations may apply) and other courses such as Project AWARE and equipment specialty courses The course consists of 3 stages
  1. Knowledge development (first 3 chapters only)
  2. Pool or Confined water skill development (first 3 dives only)
  3. Open water check out dives (first 2 dives only)
